1. Problem: The lights around the console’s Power button flash red. You might encounter this error if your Xbox 360 console overheats. When the console overheats, you typically won’t be able to play Xbox video games or otherwise use the console.

The Fix: If your console overheats, you need to allow it to cool down. This could take several hours. To prevent overheating, try to limit your gaming sessions to a couple of hours at a time, with occasional breaks between each session. Also make sure your console is in an open, well-ventilated area away from other heat-producing equipment, such as heaters, vents, heat registers, stoves, and amplifiers. Make sure the console’s ventilation holes are free of obstructions and getting plenty of air. Never operate your Xbox console on thick carpet, a bed, sofa, or other soft surface. Make sure the fan is working. If you have satisfied the above conditions and the fan is working. Some gamers have used a portable house fan to to cool of their Xbox 360. The Fix 2: make sure the A/V cable is properly connected to the console. The widest part of the A/V cable’s connector should nearly touch the back of the console. If the error persists, turn off the console, remove the A/V cable, reinsert the A/V cable, and then turn the system back on. If the lights continue to flash red, clean the A/V connector with a clean, dry cloth and try again. As a last resort, try a different A/V cable to see if your cables are the problem.

2. Problem: One light around the console’s Power button flashes red. With this error, the red light typically appears in the lower-right quadrant of the Ring of Light surrounding the Power button. This error indicates that there is a hardware failure with your Xbox 360 console, which typically prevents you from playing games or otherwise using the console.

The Fix: To make sure the error isn’t a fluke, shut the console down and turn in on again. Try disconnecting and reconnecting all cords, restarting the console again, and making sure the console’s time and date are correct. If the error persists, then the agent will instruct you to send your console in for repair.

3. Problem: Flashing red - Overheating. Let the Xbox 360 console cool. Note You may have to wait several hours for the console to cool enough. Do not turn on the console when the console is hot. DO NOT EVER PUT YOUR CONSOLE IN THE FREEZER OR OUT IN COLD WEATHER
Some people think that doing this might help "fix" an overheating console, in fact doing so could cause even bigger problems. Electronic devices like your console are made to function at and around room temperature, extreme cold temperatures can often cause just as many problems as extreme warm temperatures (such as overheating). Also if the console is located in a dramatically cold area while running, the difference in temperature between the hot console and cold air can create condensation which in turn will short out your console making the situation far worse. Condensation will happen more quickly if your console is overheating due to the greater difference in temperature.

The Thermal Solution to overheating is to improve the cooling system of the console. The best solution is to replace the thermal compound. If you attempt this you do so at your own risk. If you're console is still under waranty I recomended that you contact MS for a replacement before attempting to fix it yourself. Keep Your XBOX 360 Running Cool.

Happy Gaming!
