Domain Names!
Domain Names - The first step to
getting a Web Address (domain name) is to find out if
it is available. The .com domain name is the best. Next
best .net and .org , if you can get you domain name .com.
.com is Gold: When you
come up with a great name for your site or business get
a ".com", not a ".net"
or ".info" or ".tv" or ".ws."
If you can't get a ".com" for your name, then
come up with another name for your .com. Also if you buy
a ".com" name you may want to buy the ".net"
and maybe the ".org" so someone doesn't try
to copy your site. It's really up to you, if you want
to play it safe and you have the money then protect you
site and buy them all.
Tip: If your ".com"
name is already taken add a "-" between your
name, example: "yourname.com'" sold then try
"your-name.com." This makes it easier to read
the long .com names, example: "webmasters-free-tools.com'
compared to "webmastersfreetools.com." Buy both
.com's if you can, you can buy .com's for as little as
$8.95.

Tips that you need to get high rankings
in the search engines:
A. Hidden Title: This is the first
of three critical items that are coded in the "Head"
of every Web page. It is the first thing a search engine
sees at the top of your web page. Use 2-10 words that
describe what you do and flag your site for the search
engines.
B. What are Keywords
? Meta Tag Keywords. The second item in the "Head"
of your page should be a hidden Meta tag with 10-25 words
to help people find you. Like "car,cars,auto,".
C. Meta Tag: Description. The third
item in the "Head" is a hidden sentence that
describes both your page and your site. Make it vibrant,
use as many of your Keywords as possible, and make it
accurate. This is a one-sentence description of who you
are, what you do and why people should visit your page.
You've got 15-20 words. Use them!
D. The first words on page: The first
few seconds while a page is downloading are critical,
and a short statement of what you do will download faster
than most images. Keep your web page text close to the
top of your web page and move the pretty picture lower
down on your page!
E. Make multiple pages: A simple and good way to
increase the "page views hits" on your web site
is to increase the number of doorway paths. Rather than
have one big long page, divide your page into three pages,
each with its own title, meta tag, and description. Rather
than one doorway from the search engines to your web site
you now have three! You can vastly increase the opportunities
for people to find your site if all your pages are all
linked within your web site.
Note: You need to have something
of value on your site that you changes often. People love
humor, inspiration or practical tips. Give your visitors
something they can learn and or enjoy each time they visit.
You can post a Joke of the Day or a daily quote. Have
them sign up for your newsletter, add a forum. You need
to give them a reason to come back!

More than 85% of web surfers use search engines
to find what they are looking for on the Web.
Hand Submitting: Getting your site
listed in the top search engines. Here's some links for
submit your site to the top search engines. Remember submit
your home site page to yahoo! only once, it can take weeks
or months for your site to get listed for free. It's possible
I did it but, there's no Guaranty.
The Business categories of the main Yahoo!
directory. Yahoo! no longer offers a free submission option
for sites under these two categories - you have no choice
but to pay them $299. for the Business Express
submission option. The $299. buys you a review not a guaranty
in to Yahoo.
Yahoo! Submit your site
home page to Yahoo! only once, then wait a month before
you try again. It took about six weeks for WebTechGeek.com
to get in to Yahoo free. You can submit about 2-4 different
pages from your site per day to the others search engines
(Google, HotBot, etc.). Remember it can take weeks or
months for your site to get listed for free. If your in
a hurry you'll have to pay!

Exchanging links: One of the best
ways to increase traffic to your site and get target specific
audiences, is to trade links with other web sites that
have similar audience. You should have web a page dedicated
to "Links," sites whose owners have agreed to
put a link to your site on their page. I have found that
linking with the right web site can give you more traffic
than some of the search engine. Also placing a few links
on your pages may incense your ranking in some search
engines.
