LG GGC-H20L Super Multi Blu-ray & HD DVD-ROM

LG Blu-ray & HD DVD Rom Drive give's you the ability to play both types of HD DVD movie disc. without having to buy two expensive HD DVD players. Now that Blu-ray has won the battle and HD DVD-ROM has giving up, we can buy are favorite movies on HD DVD-ROM at fire sale prices. You will see many low priced HD DVD-ROM movies for sale at ebay, even the retail stores for discounting the HD DVD-ROM movies.
First off, my plan was to install the LG drive on my older black 2004 SONY VAIO Media Pc with Windows Media Center software installed. I use it to play my digital movie collection (movie saved as .avi), it's connected to a 40" SAMSUNG HD LCD TV monitor. So I bough the LG Blu-ray & HD DVD-ROM drive from newegg.com for $195. I received the LG HD Rom drive with in 3 days.
Now if your going to install this LG ROM drive in to a newer Pc you shouldn't have to spend any more money on upgrading your pc. But if your going to use and older pc like me you will need to spend a little on upgrades. When I open my pc I could see it needs some cleaned-out. There was a lot of dust in there. I used the air compressor in the garage to blow-out all the old dust. Dust = Heat = Computer Problems, even Pc death.

LG's new drive also has the ability to read and write to all standard DVD formats. including DVD-RAM. The GGW-H20L performed very well when writing to DVD±R discs, taking less than 5 minutes to burn an entire 4.7GB DVD.
Installing the LG drive was easy, I just removed the 4 screws on my old DVD Rom drive, removed the old Rom drive and put the new LG Rom drive, secure the drive with the screws. Now the cables, the LG Rom drive uses SATA cables.
My first problem, the LG ROM drive uses a SATA data cable or SATA interface cable and my old pc has IDE data cable. Most newer pc use SATA interface cables, read your pc user manual to see what your pc uses. So now I need to order a "SATA to IDE adaptor". I bough the Rosewill SATA to IDE Host Adaptor RC203, only $14.99 at newegg.com, easy to install. Just plug it into the back or the LG ROM drive, then plug the IDE cable in to it. If your pc uses SATA cables you will not need to use the adaptor.
Since I had the cover off my pc, I decided to add a few more upgrades. A new 500GB ($99.) hard drive and one more 1GB memory stick for $29. that will take my pc to 2 GB of pc memory. You don't need a 500GB hard drive and 2GB of memory to use the LG ROM drive. These are a few extra upgraded I decided to add to my pc. Below you will see the system requirement to play Blu-ray & HD DVD on your pc. You can even download the BD/HD Advisor program to test you pc system.
Installing the DVD application software was easy no problems or freezing. The LG drive comes boxed with a 1 software cd, 1 SATA Power cable, 1 SATA Data cable, 1 Owner's Manual and 1 Blu-ray & HD DVD-ROM Drive. Install the software cd and run the BD/HD Advisor program. The BD/HD Advisor program will test your computer and let you know if your computer system and hardware is able to play Blu-ray & HD DVD-ROM movies. To sum it all up, Plays Great, Movie Quality Great, over all I'm very happy with the LG GGC-H20L Super Multi Blu-ray & HD DVD-ROM. Great Buy!
