Morpheus is not central server-based, like Napster, nor based on the Gnutella file-sharing protocol like BareShare. The program uses a proprietary peer-to-peer protocol to share files among users on the network.

Morpheus is a full-featured and easy-to-use P2P application that allows users to share content across the Morpheus Users Network. It utilizes open protocols established by the Gnutella developers, and enables users to directly communicate with each other and search for any type of digital file across the network. Users can control CPU utilization, word filters, upload limits, and file sharing. It also simultaneously transfers content files from multiple sources for fast downloads of large files, even from users with slower connection speeds.

 

Morpheus used to be one of the best servers out there for these reasons. Ease of use, Fast downloads/searches, Availability of files. All of these reasons are now not applicable with the Morpheus/KaZaa network. The new version you log on and do nothing no files.

Pros : Quite a few files available, Resumable Downloads, No spyware.

Cons: - Too buggy, Searches can be slow, not the Morpheus we used to know and love, Downloads can be slow, There are better Gnutella Clients out there.

New transfer feature – P2P Streaming media feature for video and audio.
New Skins update - helpful messaging when downloads complete and on exit.
