Filetopia Version: Reviewed WebTechGeek.com - Filetopia combines several tools in an attractive package that serves as an online file-sharing community. At its most basic level, this fine utility is a simple file-sharing network that's a breeze to use. You can choose local folders that hold the files you're willing to share, and search for files that others have contributed to the mix. Connection to the main server begins as soon as you open the program, however, it can be slow. This can be pretty irritating too.
The program doesn't provide connection-speed filters but lets you limit searches to specific categories that include audio, video, images, documents, and programs. Beyond that, it offers an integrated chat client and instant messaging with other members of the Filetopia community.
Security measures include strong encryption (256-bit) for both the file server and chat and support for ignoring or banning selected members. You can use the chat features to request and compare file lists from other members, then download the files you don't have. Other features include animated character voice support (via MS Agent), a Novice mode for new users, an online friends list, and logging support. It's Freeware,
