Microspace Media Center PC
Swiss Digital Logic is to offers a the Microspace Media Center PC.
Thanks to a power-saving design, the Microspace does not have fans and makes no noise. All the Microspace functions are housed in a case that has an attractive design and is roughly the size of a flat shoebox (190 x 260 x 88 mm). As all Windows XP Media Center PCs the Microspace offers integrated functionalities like: TV, digital video recorder, radio, MP3 player, DVD player, DVD recorder, electronic program guide, Internet, mailbox, computer and home server.
The Microspace completely does without the normal connecting cables between the individual devices (TV, PC, digital-video/audio recorder, DVD, radio, MP3). The only cables to connect are the ones for the monitor, the TV antenna cable, the Internet, and the speakers. The keyboard, mouse, network and remote control work wirelessly. The printer is connected via USB. An optional reader can be connected for all flashcards (memory stick, CompactFlash, etc.) via the USB.
The Microspace computer:
Internally, the MEC is powered by an Intel® Pentium® M 1.6GHz processor with performance comparable to that of an Intel® Pentium® 4 clocked at 2.4GHz. It is equipped with very efficient graphics capabilities with 64 MB of video memory. The DirectX 9 video compatibility displays advanced games at a high resolution of up to 1600 x 1200 pixels. The main memory is 512 MB. The MEC is a 100%-compatible personal computer with Windows XP running in the background.
Furthermore, the MEC is equipped with all the usual PC ports, such as 5 x USB2.0, 2 x IEEE1394, LAN, video, WLAN, COM1 and sound. The installed wireless local area network (WLAN) makes it possible to establish a wireless network in the home. This, in turn, makes it possible to use the smart display to access the MEC from anywhere in the house (to use the Internet, media, PC functions or multimedia functions).
In this constellation, the MEC functions as a home server and as a bridge to the Internet. The device connects to the Internet via LAN or an external ADSL/ISDN modem. When the Windows desktop is called up, the MEC works as a silent, high-performance PC with all PC programs, such as Office, Outlook, etc.
