These instructions will work for the majority
of PCs running Microsoft Windows 98, But because PC's
vary too much for this guide to fit all computers. Remember:
If possible, do your installation in an uncarpeted area.
If you can, use the slot with the most open space around
it. Try to be careful and not to touch any chips, and
touch as little as possible on the modem or inside your
computer.
Remember if your computer is under manufacturer's
warranty, if you modifying the computer that usually ends
that warranty. If you lack good dexterity or do not understand
these instructions, have a qualified technician install

TIPs: Install an Internal Computer Modem.
1. You should shut down the computer, but
you can leave it plugged into the surge suppressor. And
remember too disconnect all peripheral devices, such as
your monitor, scanner, from the your PC. Now remove the
computer's cover.
2. Ground yourself: You should ground yourself
to the computer with any professional grounding equipment
you have. Or you can ground yourself by touching a metal
part of the computer chassis.
3. Replacing a modem: You should
remove an existing modem, if any. Install the new modem
into that same slot if it will physically fit. Screw modem
into slot holder if it has a screw hole. Go to step 5.
4. Installing a new modem: If computer
doesn't already have a modem, find a free PCI slot that
matches the pins and size. All new PCI modems have fewer
pins and fit into a smaller slot than old ISA modems.
You need to knock out or unscrew the metal plate on the
slot holder on the back panel, and insert your new modem
into the slot.
5. Replace your computer's case cover and
the back panel, if necessary, and replace all removed
screws. Screw modem into slot holder if it has a screw
hole.
6. Reconnect the monitor, keyboard, and
mouse. And connect the modem to phone line. Now you can
start your computer.
7. Windows should detects modem upon startup,
you should follow the on-screen instructions to install
the driver and additional software. You may need your
Windows install CD. If Windows doesn't detect the modem,
you will have to manually complete the installation using
the Add New Hardware control panel.
8. You should follow instructions in your
modem manual to configure the modem in Windows. You can
adjust the modem settings to match your telephone service
and personal preferences.
9. Test the modem, if it works OK then replace
cover and all screws your computer. If it doesn't work,
check to see if your phone line is plug in to the in jack
