OutBound! is an application that tests
your personal firewall to see if it really provides outbound
data blocking at the packet level. OutBound asks you to
tell it two "secret" phrases, and attempts to
send that data to the HackBusters site. OutBound! only
sends your two phrases, no other information is sent from
your computer. OutBound! also will attempt to send information
while you have your personal firewall set to block all
network traffic. You'll be very surprised to find that
many personal firewalls fail this simple test.
OutBound! has been tested on Windows 98 and Windows 2K.
It will most likely run on any version of Windows including
Windows 95 OSR2 and above, including Windows NT4, Windows
98, Windows 98SE and Windows 2K. Unfortunately, at this
time, OutBound! does not seem to work on WinXP.
OutBound! also requires the "packet" libraries
available from The University of Torino.
